I don’t know for sure, but I guess comparing eggs and chicks is the same as comparing used tampons and babies… Hens lay eggs daily, fertilized or not… As women, they have all the egg cells (oocytes) from start, but they ”menstruate” daily. If a hen is brooding (lying on the eggs) or if the chicks have hatched it won’t let you get the eggs or the chicks without a fight…
