TIL about the Chapwood Index

It reports the unadjusted actual cost and price fluctuation of the top 500 items on which Americans spend their after-tax dollars in the 50 largest cities in the nation.

A more accurate way to measure inflation?

The average #inflation rate according to the index is more than 10% per year since 2017 🤯

I heard of this stat, but wasn't sure how it was calculated. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, interesting links!

I knew https://www.shadowstats.com/, which basically keeps calculating CPI as how it was calculated in the last century.

That's because it's not the bullshit meter in use today, clearly.

Been saying we're just up against 20% unrealized inflation for a while now.
