My current understanding is the Edomites are obviously the descendants of Esau.
God stated himself he hated esau and that his brother Jacob would rule over him. Esau rejected his birthright abd married into the Canaanites which was a no no. Abraham and Isaac both told their son's not to marry a Canaanite.
Anyway the Edomites ended up mixing with the kahzars and renaming themselves jews after they decided to adopt Judaism.
