My criteria for value picks:
>10% 5-year book value growth
>20% gross profit margin
<4 P/E
>2 current ratio
<80% debt to capital
Stable rule of law jurisdiction
Then I look at the market cap and make sure it's attractive in terms of net income over time, asset base, and free cash flow. I also like to see some sort of dividend or buyback flow so it's not just paper profit but actually makes its way to stockholders.
Right now my most attractive pick is BPT - a royalty unit trust associated with the Prudhoe Bay oil fields in Alaska. Yesterday the operator Hilcorp announced that some production shut-in during 2021 won't be resumed, and recently the trustees announced no dividend for Q1, so the price is quite beat down now (and yesterday's price action was wild)
Trailing dividend yield stands at something like 40%, which is probably higher than will be realized in the near future, but if/as the oil price rises a substantial portion of that yield should pay out.
