Crickets from Coinos, so far. I am wondering why I cannot remove my nsec from Coinos, more as an exercise for privacy. Noting further has happened except that the npubs who have had losses have not heard a word from Coinos yet. I find this troubling.

Losses? Ouch

Not from me, thankfully, but several experienced npubs got the Persian.

I don't even see a place for my nsec. Where is that?

I am sure my account is newer, so I never had to give my nsec, and I don't use auto withdraw either. Everything I do with my wallet is manual. Hope you get this sorted 🙏

Go to Nostr in settings, I must have an old version.

I definitely don't have that, thank God. Did you see their post from yesterday about how they no longer required it?

No, I did not. I have tried deleting it by clicking the cursor in the box, but nothing will delete; it only copies, maddeningly. My only option is delete the whole thing and start over (after draining all Sats 丰 ofc).

Yeah, I think that's probably what I'll do too.

It is a PITA but I guess we need to address these kinds of challenges lest we get complacent and governable.

You might try asking Adam about this on Telegram. He's pretty active on there. Coinos group. Just beware of scammers on there. Or you can email him: support@coinos.io

Yes, I found his email support fast and helpful when I was first getting my NWC done.

Is your nsec in it? I don't remember ever putting mine in and I just was tapping around trying to find it and couldn't. Also what happened to coinos?

Go to settings. Then there are choices like Security, Privacy, Profile, Nostr. Go to Nostr, that is where the npub and nsec are keyed in. I had an idea that it was safer to go through Nostr.

Oh shit! I found that section on mine. I don't remember using that setting, but I apparently filled it all in at some point, probably for NWC. However, I don't have a problem with logging in.

I got destroyed by that hack yesterday. I cant even sign into my coinos although I did briefly get in on another pc that had a browser that wasnt logged out. After putting my PIN code in it had a balance of 100 or 200 sats but I had millions in there.

Yeah. When I try to zap you, the icon lights up, then immediately unlights. I hope nostr:npub1h2qfjpnxau9k7ja9qkf50043xfpfy8j5v60xsqryef64y44puwnq28w8ch gets back with us soon. I will keep the wallet, I didn’t have losses, and I only had 000,000 Sats 丰 , not millions, heaven forbid. My issue is how/why I cannot remove my nsec from their wallet.

I love this wallet but I am getting a pretty sketch vibe ATM. If it weren’t for #nostr I would not have gotten a warning that there is an issue with Coinos. Once again, the community outshines all others online.

Funny thing is is that I can't remember ever including my nsec into the account although I may have a while ago to briefly test and then forgot about it.

Oh well, at least you havent lost any sats which is good. I don't know about you but I can manage an nsec leak.

Still no can zap you bro. I do not remember including my nsec, unless it automatically does via NWC. As for an nsec leak, that means other, maybe bad actors, can spam or scam using your trusted npub which your #nostr fam trusts. The remedy that I know for that is suck it up and ditch your old npub after hearty warnings to the community that it has been compromised, and get a new npub toute suite, try to rebuild your follow list as best you can. Any other approaches I don’t know of?

Yeh my coinos account doesnt seem to even be there now. Its possible coinos has taken it away temporarily as they know its been effected by the hack.

I use NOSTR mostly to follow people so I can get good info about things. Yes it would be a little pain for someone to have my nsec but I can easily start fresh with another. Having my account connected in more ways to my real life would make it harder

Coinos has restored my 14.5million sats

Register a new Coinos account and send your money from the old to the new account (no fees).

I believe Coinos uses nsec/npub in the back end to uniquely generate new accounts securely without KYC. Perhaps, this is the reason you can change your username in Coinos easily.

Hi we will get you sorted out, please email support@coinos.io
