-THE BITCOIN ISLAND LIFE-

Today's walk with Amigo & Cypher took us along the river bed into the mountains.

The water is lovely and chilled at this time of year and the sun is shining to warm you up after a plunge pool dip.

It is very 'refreshing' this time of the year Indeed. We sometimes walk up the river bed a couple of kilometres,
to that spot where I have made a natural ' plunge pool'.
Amigo & Cypher also get to join in .....(thrown in)😆
Love it. It reminds me of one of my favorite spots in Taiwan. Just down from the cold mountain water dipping pools were natural hot springs. I'm quite sure Amigo and Cypher have a field day.
Oh Taiwan is a wonderful place. I went there during New Year 2020. Absolutely loved it. Rode a motorbike all along the Northern and Eastern coasts. Up into the mountains and then riding on the railways, and into the nature parks. Want to return so much.
🧡
That's a beautiful drive. I lived there for 15 years, and Yilan is one of my favorite places in the world. Did you go to Taroko Gorge in Hualien during your coastal ride? The northeast coast is spectacular on a motorbike. I miss Taiwan often.
That's awesome, 15 years in that amazing country. Unfortunately I only got as far as Yilan county before turning back and going across the mountains to the West coast. There is so much to explore there. I so much want to go back, in the summer next time. I want to tour the whole coast on a circuitous route on the train. Take about a month. 🙏
Highly recommend it. I mainly lived on the northwest coast—it's a great place to be. That insanely high mountain that runs down the middle of the island generally takes the brunt of the typhoons coming from the east, and they spin off to the south.
That said, I'm not a fan of maintenance roads without guardrails where big trucks (who are not supposed to take them) will have no problem putting their wheel up on the mountain—with your car on the cliffside of barely a one-lane road—to pass. I will never take that northwest to northeast trip over that mountain again, but it was beautiful, so far above the cloudline. There's a massive ancient tree all the way at the top, just next to a hot springs place. It's pretty majestic.
My brakes burned out corkscrewing up the mountain at night, and we met a very nice guy who owns a produce store up there and does rescue for people who get stuck. He let us come in at 11 PM, made us some tea, and we talked while waiting for my brakes to cool down. Overall, Taiwanese people are some of the friendliest I have ever met.
And most definitely, one month will give you plenty of time to see the sights and meet the locals. It was not uncommon to see people circumnavigate the island on their bicycles—I even once met some teenagers who were guerilla camping and doing it by skateboard for their blog.
