I guess better looking at their own weather map! Just roll it back to observed (not forecast) look at the prevailing wind and see where the rain currently is. Once you have observed it a few times you can usually work out if a band of rain is going to make it to you from the geography around you.

If its coming off the atlantic the pennines usually block the worst if it.. South or off the north sea, its just a matter of time .. 🤣🤣
