If Texas actually were ever to secede, I have a few questions:

1. What would they do for a military?

2. Who would they trade with? They’d be the 8th largest economy in the world, but it’s not easy if you can’t trade with number one.

3. What would they use as currency?

4. They’d need their own banking system.

5. Let’s assume it was done violently. We could simply blockade them. No ocean ports.

6. Without our protection, Mexico might as well take it back.

Just asking questions.

1. TX National Guard is fine for defence, probably not suitable for occupation of foreign lands though.

2. (Laughs in Russian)

3. Anything they like, or multiple something's. Even USD if they're stupid. How would you stop them?

4. ...and so they issue some licences to people who want to start one. Its not like the skill set is rare.

5. And you'll pay your troops with more debt? Taking bets on who collapses first?

6. I'll believe that could happen if and when the Mexican government starts governing Mexico.

Won't happen because rich Texans have rich friends in other states, not because Texans couldn't do it.
