I wanted to run a routing node a while back just to see how it was. Is it too late to do that if I’ve never really done it with fees as high as they are? Or does that not really matter?
Discussion
Fees aren't high right now tho
Just like before its an investment into locking in lower channel opening fees before they go up so the sooner you get into the game the more you will benefit over time especially if you end up becoming a very well connected node.
Any tips from either of y’all on how to decide on a decent starting balance? Or is there maybe a ratio of coin to channels or something? I have no idea how much I should dedicate to it.
You want channels to be as big as possible to capture rebalance fees. Personally I don't like any channels less than 10m sats.
Any channel less than 1m sats is completely useless imo (for a router)
But you have to balance out the risk for yourself, I can't stress enough, it's possible to lose coins.
