i dunno, i think that russia was angling for something at the time as well... they were just about to come help out turkey with unruly bulgaria around those times and the bulgarians drove out the turkish army long before the russians arrived
so that is the turkish vassal on the eastern flank of the austro-hungarian empire
the russians quietly snatched up their nice coal and cheese factory and the oil wells to the north and most likely spent a lot on getting the yugoslavs to not be all irritable about having one country with their puppet Tito
the chess game between russia and england has been going on way further back than that time, it goes way before this too... and it's complete nonsense to say that the oligarchy actually changed in russia, or england, in the last 200 years or so, it's the same families and the same networks
there is some reason to believe that the oligarchs of the east are not motivated by the same things... there was some story about a nation that fled the middle east to the north after being kicked out by everyone around them, idk, ashkinazi is what i've heard they were called, but they were essentially Canaanites and the Russians gave them sanctuary in exchange for converting to judaism, and this little clan had a vendetta from then on, and later took control of the british empire and kicked all this shit off
i'm pretty sure the general points are correct in this, and that it's the continuation of ancient vendettas that appear first in Genesis tied all the way back to Cain and Abel and surviving through one of the ofspring of Noah through that cataclysm, and then again, later, through the Babel and Sodom thing
i dunno if the contemporary members of these two factions are what their great ancestors were exactly, or how much of all this has been lost in an ancient vendetta that is just "we hate them and must destroy them" but certainly at least Edgar Cayce seemed to indicate that some kind of rationality would appear in these times from the east
Yeah I feel like something bigger is going on, that geopolitics is downstream of... But its hard to say more than just that. Trying to be as reductionist as possible, I'd say that the basic unit of economics is the family, and probably the basic unit of the nation state is organized crime families. The intermarrying of the ruling families fits with the organized crime premise because the state has only what it steals ; the state is fundamentally a structural form of organized crime. It might simply be just that, if I'm being strictly reductionist, which is admittedly boring.
Good on the Bulgarians for kicking out the Turkish army. Albanians, too, though I think that was a different conflict.
yeah, the serbs are dirty on the bulgarians though because they were more duplicitous, the battle of Kaimakchalan is a point of resentment for Serbs against Bulgarians
the word Strategy comes from turkish, and the Ottoman Empire was a massively tricky, intrigue filled history of mischief and murder... put it this way, the bulgarians considered their annexation to be enslavement, as do the rest of the southern slavs... main street name in most cities in that part of the world means "liberation", oslobodenie (liberation, freedom from slavery), nezavisimost (independence)
but yeah, there is definitely something else going on
just as there is crime families, there is families of saints, and they are dark groups, as in, part of being a saint is humility, and even, you can be part of one of these families and not even know it because the branch you are on got infected by some tyrannical sumbitch who severed from the main branch
it's a funny thing, and it always seems like the bad guys are more organised but the good guys are actually more numerous and distributed
