The traditional university degree system is going through the same kind of transformation the financial system is. The old structures are less relevant and new ones are emerging.
When I was graduating in the 90’s it was getting common for people to take 5 years instead of 4 for lots of good reasons.
Now education is widely distributed across a spectrum of possibilities and many companies no longer consider a university degree a necessary qualification.
Thresholds are important though, as much for what they’ve offer us personally than for what they signal to others.
