Not sure if I'm missing something but it seems obvious Tether is safe because they buy US treasuries in significant numbers, bend the knee to censorship when really needed, and can help the US to bottom up dollarize the entire globe funding the empire for another 100 years by exporting inflation to 8 billion people.

I think this dynamic buys them time and gives them some leverage against US gov action but ultimately they are operating a non-compliant black market USD. They have had a massive target on their back since they launched. The larger they get, the bigger the target.
