Researchers found that they can use LLMs to induce false memories [1]. They showed participants a video of a crime and then had them interact with an LLM tasked with asking misleading questions that manipulate their recollection of events.
I’m sure lawyers are yawning at this but it’s significant because now it can be done at scale and with precision.

people are super easy to influence.
there's a video from forever ago where a law professor is lecturing his class about how terrible eye witnesses actually are when suddenly a guy bursts in, grabs his laptop and runs out. he proceeds to ask leading questions about the thiefs description.
was a really great example of how police can influence the witness.
