I thought Taproot was a soft fork for improving privacy. Turns out it's for increased Bitcoin network usage and for miners making more money.

What are you referring to?

Current mempool and onchain fees.

And just in time for the halving!

Well, no one else was using it.

You can do ordinals and inscriptions without Taproot. Not sure why people echo this, it just false.

I know but they got popular after Taproot.

They were invented after Taproot lmao

Yeah which was my point initially.

You could do ordinals and inscriptions since the launch of bitcoin, just because someone came up with an idea after something doesn't mean it predicates it

Ordinal inscriptions don't need taproot. They were perfectly possible years ago. And the BRC-20 stuff that's actually driving fees right now barely puts anything on chain.

Hell, I even published a tool, pre-segwit, that could publish arbitrary text to the chain with standard transactions using P2SH.

I know. They all just got popular after Taproot.

That’s Blockstream vision for #bitcoin
