when have you received a small payment for your attention?
Personally? I use the Disney + Hulu bundle with ads. They pay a part of my subscription fee for ads. Don’t tell them but it’s low key pretty interesting to see the ads people come up with.
I was referring to YouTube videos giving away a million dollars or the lottery. Things like these end up being pretty popular
if you are ok with that exchange then the model works for you. i am merely putting into words what i see.
if you are satisfied with the exchange of your time and attention for ads when you are seeking entertainment then it must be okay, for you. i don't pay much attention to them either.
to me it diminishes overall post quality when people only engage more when they're paid. i could post a picture of nonsense and say i will pay x sats and people won't care but will engage for sats.
it creates behaviours that become normal and acceptable and it's why we are so much low quality content. like you said, it is now a human problem. should it be? probably not.
I used to use Disney + Hulu without ads but given a choice I’d pick the ad version regardless of the price. It’s funny because I don’t feel like I’m trading entertainment time to watch a boring ad, the ads are also entertaining. I can’t say the same for YouTube and X whose ads clearly have 0 taste. For these platforms, you could not pay me enough to watch the ads.
I totally agree. It seems like most of the people are out there chasing money instead of actually living life or doing things for its own sake.
