It's not enough to just "believe in Christ", because Man often lies to himself.

One must accept Christ as Lord for salvation and then labor in the process of sanctification, where they become progressively estranged from the sin of the world and the sin of their old selves.

Salvation without sanctification is called antinomianism, which means you can merely tell yourself you accept Christ and then return to your carnal self and remain unchanged.

Antinomianism is not Biblical.

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." - KJV: Matthew: 7:21

Strive to BE like Christ.

Aye. The process of being saved is a lifelong labor because Man is deceitful to himself, and so the forthright and long suffering pursuit beats salvation into the blood, and not just in one's mind.

In the simplest of terms, you can lie to yourself about being saved to provide comfort, but those who are regenerated in Christ have a change of person and path that enriches the life and progressively seperates the person from the world (Sin).

This is the essence of the 3 inclusive religions.

Always.

Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:7-9
