Why?

Because they are good

The postal service is good? News to me

Good that you’ve heard it now

Losing 9.5 billion seems like a bad thing.

Government agencies have to be inefficient to justify their bloated existence.

Privatize it all. The government needs to be completely dismantled. Ask yourself why you can get something next day from Amazon and it takes two weeks via USPS. If you even get it at all...

I don’t use amazon.

I can’t remember the last time something took that long to ship with usps…

Amazon is just an example. Any private shipping service runs circles around salaried dipshits that don't care about prompt service.

For my personal experience not really usps is always on point compared to fedex/ups/etc

Not everything should be profitable

With no incentive, people cease to give a shit and the service suffers.

So the military should make more money than it costs to operate?

The military doesn't deliver the mail. And it shouldn't exist as it does either. All the military does is take and is 100x more inefficient than the postal service. Privatize that too.

Let's just combine them. The military already has jeeps, just give the postman a gun.

It's not about making money, it's about providing a service and not being a burden. The USPS is costing too much for what they're offering. Simple as that. A lighter, quicker operation would get people their mail quicker and get statist lifers off the dole.

Nah, sell that loser. Let someone else deal with the turn around. Plus you

might even own the mailbox that you bought.

Seems to me that private enterprise tends to vastly outperform public services.
