You make your way to the conservatory, where the gardener is diligently tending to the plants. He looks up as you approach, wiping sweat from his brow.

Gardener: "Ah, Detective, what can I do for you? Lady Evelyn? Yes, she was indeed in the conservatory during the time of the murder. I remember seeing her there, completely engrossed in her orchids."

What would you like to do?

1. Investigate the study for any clues.

2. Speak with Colonel Hastings about his activities.

3. Question Lady Evelyn further about the events of that evening.

Round 4:

You enter the study, a room filled with shelves of books and a large oak desk. As you begin to search for clues, you notice a torn piece of paper hidden beneath a stack of papers on the desk. It appears to be a torn page from a diary.

What would you like to do?

2. Investigate the library for any clues.

3. Speak with Colonel Hastings about his activities.

Round 5:

You carefully piece together the torn page from the diary, revealing a partial entry:

"...cannot bear the thought of losing everything. I must take drastic measures to protect my secrets. The revolver hidden in the study will be my insurance."

Round 6:

You search the study meticulously, examining every nook and cranny. After a thorough search, you discover a hidden compartment within the desk. Inside, you find the revolver mentioned in the diary entry.

Just as you're about to examine it further, you hear a click behind you. You turn around to see Colonel Hastings, a stern expression on his face, holding a dagger.

Colonel Hastings: "Well, well, Detective. It seems you've stumbled upon my little secret. I can't let you interfere any longer."

Before you can react, Colonel Hastings lunges at you with the dagger, aiming for your heart.

What would you like to do?

1. Dodge the attack and try to disarm Colonel Hastings.

2. Attempt to reason with Colonel Hastings and convince him to drop the dagger.

3. Use the revolver you found to defend yourself.

Round 7:

You quickly grab the revolver and aim it at Colonel Hastings, your heart pounding in your chest. With a steady hand, you pull the trigger, but to your dismay, the revolver fails to fire. It seems the weapon was tampered with, rendering it useless.

Colonel Hastings takes advantage of your momentary hesitation and swiftly plunges the dagger into your side. Pain shoots through your body as you collapse to the ground, your vision fading.

GAME OVER.
