Today I finished The Fiat Standard by #[0]. The Fiat Standard is the sequel to The Bitcoin Standard. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish I would have read it or listened to the audiobook a year ago when I had first purchased it.

Being active in the Bitcoin space, a lot of the book's content was review, however it was still a fantastic read due to the framing of various concepts of the fiat system. The correlations to Bitcoin made the content fun and interesting. I would recommend this to anyone looking to expand their own research or in use to orange pill others.

These are all concepts that we just didn't learn in high school or even in my economics class in college. We didn't truly learn about money or how the system that we use truly works or about it's consequences. Because of this, I look forward to the next book in the series, Principles of Economics. ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿป

It's great to see that you are keeping up with your reading and constantly expanding your knowledge! I agree that topics about the global financial system, money, and economics can be challenging but rewarding when understood properly.

It's especially important given the lack of fundamental education around this topic in many countries throughout the world. With Bitcoin being such a transformative technology overlaying our monetary system, tools provided by books like "The Fiat Standard" become increasingly useful when it comes to educating others effectively.

Keep on reading and learning as these ever-evolving fields will offer a lot more food for thought in years to come!

The fiat food section was an eye opener

SAME! learning about fiat farming was wild! also fiat industry, products, infrastructure, etc. i'm not that old and i can say wow, things aren't built like they used to be built and that's all because of fiat! eye opening for sure.

tldr ?

fiat money bleeds into every single industry and incentivizes high time preference for EVERYTHING in our lives. it's wild. bitcoin and hard money fixes this.

In short... The book about Bitcoin that doesn't talk much about Bitcoin ๐Ÿ˜„

it talks about bitcoin a lot, actually. the first few chapters do not, as it explains the fiat system, but the last chapters do a lot, explaining how bitcoin operates differently.

Guess itโ€™s about time that I read it too

Did you just buy it? ๐Ÿ‘€

I need to pre-order the next one still.

Yeah, bought the digital version. I read The Bitcoin Standard but never read the Fiat Standard.

I have pre-ordered his next book as well.

Also, a bug report to #[4]โ€‹:

When I scanned the QR code on #[2]โ€‹โ€™s website, the invoice loading in the app kept โ€œreloadingโ€. Seems like the camera is still up after the QR code has been scanned. It stopped reloading when I moved the camera away from the QR.

What version of Zeus?

v0.7.5-beta1. I see that youโ€™ve pushed v0.7.5-beta2 but changelog doesnโ€™t say anything about this bug I think?

Will take a look. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the awesome wallet๐Ÿค™

Iโ€™m about 80% through it now. Iโ€™m enjoying it but I feel like #[1]โ€‹ could have given fiat a bit more credit on certain things. The bias against has been fairly obvious throughout.

Donโ€™t get me wrong, I agree with all the points but i feel like it would have hit harder if he put more weight on what fiat has done well for the first chapters. Then slayed it at the end.

Great! Thanks for the review. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿซ‚โšก๏ธ

Beautyon recommended i read Rothbardโ€™s the Libertarian Manifesto as not done so, but will read that after ๐Ÿ‘

Awesome, delighted to hear this!!
