It took me a little while to get into Donnie Darko, but I think it definitely ranks up there as one of the great cult films of the early 2000s. The plane crash scene probably doomed its theatrical release, and it managed to fly under my radar for 23 years. It’s a wild surrealist take on 80s high school misfit life, exploring mental illness, time travel, and multidimensionality, wrapped in an awesome soundtrack.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendations tonight. Now I need to figure out what I’m watching tomorrow.
