Submissive doesn't mean doormat. I am not sure many men want a woman without her own fire.

You don't have to be a doormat to have a husband who makes bad decisions.

Wifely submission is like Schrödingers cat. She is both submissive and unsubmissive, until you observe her when her husband is being dumb.
