I’m convinced all never-coiners and skeptic nocoiners have encountered the world of cryptocurrency through altcoins and cex’s.

They apply the weaknesses, threats, and use case bs of that garbage onto Bitcoin without digging in to learn.

We need to continue to make progress in our messaging around differentiation.

“It’s not the same, etc.” is a good start but it’s time we get more sophisticated. Need to understand marketing and psychology to approach people where they’re currently at and help our message break through.

Bingo. So much of what we're doing isn't helping.

... подумаю... пусть еще 6 месяцев там будут...

It’s also full of inherently jealous people who missed the train

In addition to people who loyally follow the status quo

You bring up a great point.

We also need better messaging to inform people that they haven’t missed the train.

We’re still early.

☝️this line should never be used alone. We are early but help them understand why.

Help them see how far this will go, why we’ve only just begun, and why the further we go, the larger the gap will widen between what crypto promises and what Bitcoin delivers.

Personally I’m far beyond the point of trying to convince skeptics.

Always happy to talk bitcoin with people who have genuine curiosity though.

It’s frustrating for sure. Time spent taking to the curious pays back in dividends.

Addressing the skeptics is a numbers game. I think it needs to be done from a position of leverage - addressing the masses, either via social media, newsletters, books, YouTube, podcasts, and other media.

I think the right messaging will convert them. Gradually, then suddenly.

You’re right.

This is already happening though.

Most people have that one friend or family member that “is weird and loves bitcoin”

When bitcoin hits $100,000 USD. That weird friend is gonna be getting bombarded with questions

I think most people have that one crypto friend.

I think the number of people with that one Bitcoin friend is still much smaller, obviously dependent on which circles you’re in.

Keep going. Each successive cohort we try to orange-pill will require a different strategy.

Education is a thing that most people gleefully quit a long time ago.

The percentage of the population who are willing to undertake any kind of education on a voluntary basis is less than 5%.

To win, Bitcoin has no choice but to build services and compete in the market. It’s 14 years in, the early adopters are already here.

What is education besides acquisition of information and development of an informed position/opinion/application.

People are being ‘educated’ by media. This hasn’t stopped. I’d argue it’s increased - people consume content all day long. Yes, fully agree Bitcoin needs to compete in the market. ‘Show me’ > ‘tell me’

But we also need to grow the number of people paying attention to that demonstration.

We need to continue to become a bigger part of the conversation.

maybe in other words…since the early adopters are all already here (the ones who get on board with bitcoin ideologically, through curiosity & learning), other folks not so educationally inclined will get into bitcoin if it’s super easy for them or if it’s clearly the better choice for them in the market.

& perhaps you’re giving too much credit to the alt-coiners, etc. it seems to me that most of those folks merely got into that stuff for a get-rich-quick scheme/hope.

Yeah altcoiners def got into it to try to increase their fiat stack.

Each phase of people we try to orange pill will need a different approach.

Think of it this way: everyone who benefit a appeals to will be orange pulled by benefit a.

But people who need to understand benefit b, whether they value benefit a or not, also need to understand and believe benefit b before they’re convinced. And so on…

There’s also the challenge of understanding each benefit. Some people aren’t informed enough to do so. They may never be. This is where usability, seamless experience, integration with existing paradigms becomes more important.

So we also need to address the challenge of understanding how to access and use bitcoin. In order to get past the early adopters, Bitcoin probably needs to be a native experience in something they’re using - ie: a marketplace, social media, rewards cards, retirement account, etc.

yes, def. many out there will come to bitcoin when it’s very easy for them to do so.
