Legitimate question, and I don’t know the answer. Has there ever been a technology that was fought where the people fighting against it won? I understand this is kind of subjective and open to lots of interpretation, but I am genuinely curious about the history of these things.

Nuclear weapons is a partial answer. Used once and haven’t been used since. Most impressive weapons technology ever invented. But to avoid mutually assured destruction everyone “fights” to avoid nuclear war.
