If you do a custom config similar to your others, I am interested. I've tried Enlightenment a couple times, but never stuck with it for more than a few days.

I really like the underlying DE tech and coding design, as I researched that quite a bit.

i'm gonna mess around with it in a VM for a bit and see where it goes, if i can balance theming for GTK and Qt apps and get my keybindings dialed in, i'll share my configs

i haven't had much luck getting GTK and Qt apps to theme and scale correctly, so even thought the initial look and function are great (the auto-tiling is really awesome BTW), it doesn't seem very practical to fight through config'ing it for true regular use

I felt the same way. Enlightment DE looks really cool... but after using for a bit, it felt a bit clunky and difficult. I didn't look into setting up custom configuration.

at some point i might look at the Bodhi Linux config files to see how they handle theming, etc. ...but honestly not super-motivated at the moment

Yeah, that's fine. I mostly use Cinnamon and try different window managers from time to time. I've been using CWM (calm window manager) on my laptop, but very minimal config that is not optimized at all.

One of my sons re-did his workstation and wanted to try hyprland. He is really liking that. Looks really cool, but I don't want to switch to wayland.
