Subnostr

I was curious when I looked up my profile on nostr.band how many followers I’ve got here vs twitter and on the fediverse.

Twitter - 17 years - 18.5k followers

Mastodon - 6 years - 2.6k followers

Scuttlebutt - 5 years - 1.1k followers

Nostr - 5 months - 3.1k followers

BlueSky - 2 Months - 329 followers

Now, of course, the number of followers doesn’t correlate to engagement or who’s actually seeing my posts. And the line between the Fediverse and Nostr is blurry because of gateways. I follow nostr folks on my mastodon account and fediverse folks in Nostr.

At the moment I see lots of engagement of my posts on the fediverse, nostr, and bluesky. I don’t see much on Scuttlebutt or Twitter any more.

Also, something totally weird, despite posting 7000 times over 15 years, I’ve only got 15 people who follow me on Tumblr!

Likely because you’re not a hip teenager who posts edgy gifs (I haven’t seen your tumblr though so I might be totally wrong)

Yes, I’m not. My kids, who are teenagers, think Tumblr is awesome…. They discovered it about 6 months ago and told me how excited they were about it. I laughed and pointed out I’ve been on Tumblr since before they were born… they promptly blocked me. Which, I think is fine, they deserve their privacy online too.

One kid uses discord as their primary chat platform and the other uses telegram. They use signal to talk to the parents.

Yeah, the #[3] interview came out right before Nostrica so that also helped get to know me.

I didn't see that interview, but after the meetup in Costa Rica, you were very active in the interaction of the post, and it was very interesting to see that you shared a lot of opinions about social networking.

there is a weird early culture to following absolutely everyone on bluesky, I have 98 followers on bluesky, but like 10 that don’t follow all 20,000 people.

My low Nostr engagement is probably because I’m very picky with relays.
