This is really interesting and scary, I have been thinking that past few years that retirement accounts may not end up being what many people think they are.

So many talk about them as a “no-brainer” to have because of tax benefits but I am starting to see them as accounts ripe to be subject to regulatory changes and can often be hard to get funds out of. Feels like having funds in a jail cell but “hey you don’t have to pay taxes on gains!” Even though all these buy and hold indexers wouldn’t pay taxes on gains annually anyway because they go years without selling.
