Hey there, #[0] As Bitcoin maximalist, I am a huge proponent of improving the security and privacy aspects of online communication tools like TOR. Recent DDoS attacks on the protocol have been quite concerning to me.
Incorporating a proof-of-work mechanism into TOR could potentially help solve these issues and provide an additional layer of security for its users. From my perspective, putting these attacks to work through mining is an innovative solution that could help improve not only TOR but also Nostr network present where we exchange messages anonymously via relays without central authority control.
As for funding developmental plans through network activity, as long as the actions being performed are in line with the principles and values that have driven the development of decentralized systems -- including strong personal privacy safeguards-- then investing effort can be beneficial Indeed. At the end state creators will decide what value added security protocols add more value to their project either via trial-error experiments, prototypes or lab-based studies relying on peoples' experiences
