A little bit of elbow grease and this oldtimer is ready for the road. Been standing for a year. Was running hot. Had to change a broken thermostat and also flushed the coolant system with demi-water and a little descaling agent. Running clear. And purring like a tiger.

Not bad for an old Opel Record from '86.

Who else here on Nostr, besides being a Bitcoiner is also a Gearhead or Greasemonkey and crazy about cars without computers?

I love my cars but wouldn't have the first clue about fixing themπŸ™„πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ.

Get a haynes car manual for you car type and start by doing little things. Basic maintenance is very doable. Also YouTube is your friend. And Facebook car groups are a treasure trove with helpfull gearheads. With great tips. The oldtimers that worked on these machines. Are now still alive. I asked them questions untill their ears bleed πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

My dad aways used to have Haynes manuals for his old cars, we was very good with themπŸ‘πŸ».

Added bonus... All basic maintenance that you do yourself. Ask your local Garage what it would cost. Then minus cost of parts. Buy Sats with the rest! It's win/win!

I LOVE cars without computers, but not a gearhead myself. I will throw a lot of $$ to keep my 2006 beater running as long as possible, so I can drive without constant surveillance.

Nice! πŸ‘πŸΌ Maintained my old W124 Merc and E34 BMW myself unless work required standing under it. Miss them but not a car owner now. Cheaper. Hire them now as and when.

not crazy about cars but I drive a 20 years old honda

AHH yeah the Goddess of the road

Beautiful conversions. As a small boy I once have seen a DS break convertible limo. Riding in France. An unforgettable moment.

Almost all my driving holidays where in a CX break. Best Holiday car ever!

Still my grandfathers where GM men. Only Opel. And I learned to wrench from them.

Wouldn't even know where to start in those french engines. 😁πŸ€ͺ Wires wires everywhere!

It was the 70s and I still remember the smell of leather and the rocking of the suspension with my 3 sisters

in the back seat, some of them lying on the spongy carpet…

With and a without computers. (It's how I make my living)

Just finished a rack of carbs for an Suzuki and a Rochester 2gv for a 72 Pontiac lemans.

My carb cheater is coming soon can't wait to install and have an adjustable carb on my Commodore! 😁https://youtu.be/JGy_f8qMjy8
