I feel torn between feelings of empathy and mischievous delight looking at the LA fires.

On the one side these are people who lost their homes, memories and livelihoods. They are probably confused, scared, sad and angry about what happened.

On the other side people living in these areas are very much responsible in accelerating #climatechange, which disproportionately affects people in less privileged communities throughout the globe.

Although I hope that these traumatic events will inspire some to zoom out and make changes, I feel most people will just go back to business as usual once the first shock is settled down.

I have no definite answers, I just feel that #Bitcoin might be a big part of the solution to fundamentally change the incentive structure of our global economic system, which will produce more and more disaster videos on your timeline until you get up and demonstrate change on #SaturdaysForSatoshi.

the california government has been failing to fund their firefighters and there has been a staff and equipment shortage for years

the firefighters have been begging for more support but get ignored

on top of lack of people and equipment, the government has been creating retarded regulations to "protect" some animal or plant or other that has led to the proper fire mitigations not being done in much of the government controlled lands around california

on top of that, the retarded socialist handouts and heavy handed interference in business has led to a massive population of homeless people on drugs and most of the fires were started by crazy hobos and then other ones show up where the people were ordered to evacuate and looting

this has nothing to do with the climate, and everything to do with the californian government doing everything they possibly could to make sure this couldn't be prevented

Don’t know the exact reasons why the fires started, but the rise of global temperatures made wildfires more frequent and more widespread than it used to be.

no, global temperatures have nothing to do with it

the two main drivers are the thermal currents in the ocean and the amount of radiation, electrons and plasma reaching into the lower atmosphere from the sun

the thermal currents you can read about them, such as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current and the one in the pacific is called El Nino/El Nina and specifically that one has an effect that brings drought and fires to australia with El Nino, and when it flips to El Nina the fires are often in california and mexico and parts of south america

and the outrageously bad level of these fires is purely due to environmentalist regulations being enforced by the california government and the fact they aren't funding the fire department adequately, in addition to preventing them from managing the fuel levels properly (they actually do know how to do it, but they aren't allowed to)
