Thx! One thing ive learned is to protect from cabbage root. My cauliflower seems especially prone to this pest! The netting is in place until the plants are well established, about late may, then the damage is much reduced

We have cabbage root maggots also. I thought that was only a Pacific Northwest west thing. I hate using row covers but I have capitulated. I used to cut a slit in cardboard and carefully slip the stems in between then cover with wood chips that was about 80 percent effective. So much work, but I like being able to see the plants.
