A user has “accidentally” paid $500,000 in transaction fees to move $200 worth of bitcoin, setting a new record for the most expensive fee in U.S. dollars for a single Bitcoin transaction. The transaction was likely made by an exchange or payment processor with buggy software, according to Casa CTO Jameson Lopp. The fee was paid to Bitcoin mining pool F2Pool, and if unclaimed, it will be distributed to the pool's bitcoin miners after a three-day hold period.
