Most tomorrow electronics are pretty well shielded and have stood up to some high energy testing with no major faults.
That said, it does appear to be that the 2010's era Toyota vehicles that had runaway issues were most likely due to high energy solar particles ripping through the PCM and flipping bits to cause havoc.
(A situation that has also caused problems with some data centers)
