Anything can monetize and weaponize.
Ramen and cigarettes monetize in prison, for example.
Fiat currency weaponizes via nation states.
Time is money, because our lifespan is the most precious scarce resource we own.
Humanity has been searching
since the dawn of civilization for the best way to store time/money without leakage.
Life, Liberty, Property.
When Satoshi Nakamoto invented ₿itcoin, he simultaneously DISCOVERED absolute digital scarcity. It has to be digital yet directly tied to the one thing in the universe that can not be created nor destroyed. ENERGY.
POW is the very soul of ₿itcoin. That’s why I will die on this hill.
POS is fiat shitcoinery reinvented and repackaged for the brainwashed masses. Sorry, it that is harsh - I am human, and NOT immune to this brainwashing either, but this solves nothing. It’s the weaponization of money all over again.
And so, things that don’t solve problems are shitcoins. It’s the weaponization of social media and centralized platforms.
Canceling, censoring, deplatforming, etc. Is a big problem.
Free speech and freedom are a big deal.
Nostr solves a problem humanity has, so it is NOT a shitcoin.

I see your point and don't think it is that black and white. As you are mixing crypto, for profit companies controlling social networks and usd currency.
For crypto I am not an expert however don't know about any useful one.
For social networks their purpose is to generate profit as for profit companies and some are more successful then others. They represent single point of failures and one could argue that benefits they provide are not outweighting total cost to the society.
For usd, well it is a currency and since it is not pegged to gold or any hard currency anymore last 50 years represents how that looks like...
