even lead acid doesn't do well in siberian conditions, cars used in the cold areas must have manual cranks to start them because the batteries produce no charge
i think lithium would be ok but you should add a heat panel and heavy insulation and temperature regulator
they work best if you can keep them always at a perfect 27'C
i had a nightmare in -8'C conditions with an aluminium body sony smart phone back in 2015, it would run to zero in an hour or two - i couldn't get inside and it wasn't warm enough in even my deepest pockets
Nobody here in Alaska has hand cranked cars 🤣, just slightly oversized starting batteries and AC powered block, coolant and/or battery heaters. You really don't need anything special when it's above 10F. Way up north, some guys run Webasto brand diesel drip heaters to keep their trucks warm.
I was planning to run the Pi on a 12V USB converter connected to the starting battery through a switch.
We'll see what happens. If it breaks, I'm only out $60.
