The ocean, covering 71% of Earth’s surface, remains largely unexplored. Among its mysterious inhabitants is the wolf eel (Anarrhichthys ocellatus), a fish often mistaken for an eel due to its long, slender body. Despite this resemblance, it’s actually part of the wolffish family.

Known for its sharp teeth and powerful bite, the wolf eel preys on crabs and sea urchins. Despite their fierce appearance, these creatures are shy, hiding in rocky crevices and forming lifelong pairs.

We’ve explored less than 5% of the ocean, leaving much of its vast depths and unique creatures like the wolf eel still largely unknown.
