Crypto vs Bitcoin: I've noted that some people getting really wound up when you call Bitcoin Crypto. Can anyone explain that to me? Bitcoin is secured by cryptography so it seems to me that it is Crypto, even if a superior form. Why was the label Altcoins not sufficient?

As I'm listening to this podcast I continue to hear about people not wanting to call bitcoin the name crypto. Let's use an example: imagine a totally slipshod and terrible car company. The fuel efficiency is terrible, it's a total throw of the dice whether it'll start on any given day and yes there are some cases where the fuel tank randomly explodes, causing some tragic accidents. Do we stop calling 4 wheeled passenger vehicles cars? No, we would call out the bad brand. This is why bitcoin being crypto does nothing to smear or diminish its own use or effectiveness.
