There looks to be a sneaky reason for that.

Tell me what your opinion is on this:

The 5G toggle seems to be gone from my settings too... that is very dumb considering not only that coverage is bad as mentioned in the video, but also that 5G uses a lot more battery.

As for the legal stuff: IANAL but I do know case law is clear that an EULA (end user license agreement) is not a legally enforceable contract. I also didn't have to agree to any new terms when updating. They might say you implicitly agree to new changes because that's what you agreed to when you first set the phone up but again, I don't think that's legally enforceable.

As for my thoughts on Samsung in general. Very mixed simply due to the wide range of products they make. I don't like that they collect a load of data on their phones. I don't like that Facebook is not only preinstalled, but there's also multiple Facebook system level services.

Plus Samsung pulled the same fuckery as Apple wrt slowing down old phones in the past.

I have one Samsung phone because I wanted a foldable a few years ago and there was no viable competition. If I wanted one today I'd get the folding Pixel 7.

So basically they're not my favourite either but I also don't think the shit in their T&C's would ever hold up in court.

What’s some good open source phones as of late?

Pixel with GrapheneOS is my main. Pinephone if you wanna go full nerd and have a Pi in your pocket.

I was thinking Graphene too
