It’s like saying we need to change HTTP to make the web popular. HTTP did not make the web, websites did.

Maybe http is just the train track, but core is the whole train ecosystem - more moving parts in need of attention?
Core is not the whole ecosystem, because real people will rarely use core directly.
There will always be things in bitcoin to fix, and they are being fixed, but overly focusing on the engine when there isn’t a car is how you start focusing on theoretical problems instead of real ones.
