In unrelated news, im kind of amazed how long at least a few coals will stay hot in the bottom of a woodstove after a fire. 🔥 🪵🤔

I mean... its always about oxygen. And burn material density...

If you hike just take a empty can, put some small holes in it and maybe a cord. You can transport your glowing coal to the next camp, occasionally swinging the can on the cord to gain some oxygen/glow if needed.

There's a whole "science" of fire-transporting methods.
