When these things are clearly explained to people they don't agree with them. Most people didn't actively choose to be digital slaves, they made the decisions they thought were best with the information they had.
Unfortunately there's a general lack of knowledge and education around digital services. Ignorance? Sure. But people don't want to be slaves, they want to be free.
Freedom tools are required, and also an emphasis on education is paramount. With clear understanding people will make the right choices.
