The absolute biggest thing I've learnt as I've grown up is that materialism really cannot make you happy.
Wealth itself, I'd argue, is a neutral tool that can be used in fulfilling ways or destructive ways depending on the person who holds it.
But absolutely no one has ever become a fulfilled person from buying designer clothes, bigger houses, and faster cars.
Short dopamine bursts are not happiness. And like any substance that causes a quick dopamine release, what goes up must come down.
