I know a person who is using same password for all sites without any additional authentication. This person often hear news about how other firm got screwed by hackers rerouting money transactions and this person openly says it is scared of this.

I offered this person multiple times my personal time to teach the basics and best tactics using the "scarry internet".

This person always ignore my help teaching the basic security tactics everyone should use.

So hear me out. I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone being screwed by a hackers because of their poor security and ignorance towards internet basic security.

Some people will only learned the hard way. Why wasting time on some complicated topic you don't understand and have no interest in, if you can sip coffee with your buddies in the pub.

I made a pact with myself years ago that has evolved into something like this: If I, in good faith, have spent approximately the same amount of time talking to someone about fixing a certain problem that they could have learned on their own with research, then I feel that my job is done. Good deed; check.

After that it's up to them. I'm going to sleep like a baby.

I can't even count the times I've walked away from someone muttering "Each person buys #bitcoin at the price they deserve."

And lately it's "each person comes to #Nostr at the price of freedom they deserve."
