I don't have any insight beyond the many articles on this topic when it was announced in 2021. Seems there's a UserVoice style site for Firefox that I didn't know existed where there's a steady stream of people arguing about it to this day https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/bring-back-pwa-progressive-web-apps/idi-p/35/page/28#comments

That's the [whatever $$$ they're getting through search deals] question. I still mostly use Firefox for personal browsing, so that's a floor for how relevant they are at the moment. :-)
