Did not see them. Always check with them before release, good habit. See how they wish to be credited and whether the version you intend to release gets their approval.
If everybody just keep jumping on stuff and releasing without approval I foresee a lot of people not wanting to use the platform until we can hide in private channels. Producers want control over their music or money.
I know for certain you would have done that with one of my producer tracks he would have walked out of the platform and never want to come back.
Safe. I see it differently, if they didn’t post freely and I didn’t contribute freely then we wouldn’t have created this. I posted there with the expectation that it would inspire, I came on the platform to be inspired. Wrote verses in 20 mins… it was for fun…
We screen-grab and post on Damus… I just put it on soundcloud cos I want to listen to all the tracks as one piece. Same thing really… way more convenient.
I’m celebrating the platform, the process. If it was on Spotify or tidal then I’d agree with you.
Thanks for reposting. I’ll definitely ask you first if we do a track together 😅

I would be ok if you posted stuff you found of mine on Spotify, and when we do have invoices, I’ll set the price accordingly also taking into account if only you get that sample/loop or it might show up else where.
But be weary, when I sell samples to libraries they require a whole lot of proof of work to show I actually originated these things both with valid sound sources and software, that’s missing here and will be priced accordingly.
Libraries getting resold here is an issue for sure. I am also confused since rock said it wouldn’t be a paywalled market. I might sound like a nazi talking about rights and approvals but I truly believe that all that has to be discussed and ironed out if music making via Nostr wants to become a real thing, and eventually realer than the real thing.
I totally understand the jamming aspect side of things and the creative soup it can create, and let’s just do stuff. That can only last for so long. I just try to interface it with the reality of an industry that is vicious and look at Nostr as an alternative way of distributing music.
If the tools are right established artists will come, if established artists come everyone will follow. Dream big…
It’s not even in open beta yet… could remain value for value could have other invoices options. The long term goal is obviously v4v but ideally that’s not just user input but actual tracking and splits based on a calculated percentage of actual cue and not something where a discussion needs to occur.
Sorry, #[11] reposted a note in this thread and now my notifications are a mess.
I’m just happy to be here early. Stir shit up a little, dream big and see what the people who can actually build will do. All I can do is to share my point of view and silly ideas and see if it can inspire or influence things a tiny little bit
I just have big dreams for nostr, not entirely sure why
Happy to have you here early #[11] 🫂
same, sorry everyone else for the thread 🤙

Will be extra careful as to what I upload into this jungle that stemstr is for now 🤣
The atomic stuff stays at the lab for now

Dream big…
Because the protocol is still being built it’s really the good moment to push for ideas that would provide all the basic blocks to operate music making and distribution as an « automated » shared economy. Then find how stemstr fits in the whole.
Creatives do creative work, the protocol and the sites take care of royalties(and the devs and « infrastructure » take their share), and industry lawyers and accountants go find a new line of work.
Hey #[11] I appreciate your feedback, I meant no disrespect to the others and the process. I’ve really enjoyed the space. It’s cool being in Tanzania and connecting this way. I appreciate it. Hope we can work together soon. 🇹🇿⚡️✊🏾
💜
I hope you get where I come from. I can be a pain in the ass, but it’s always for the common good.
We will collaborate for sure. I have a different creative flow than yours, becoming old and broken 🤣
I understand where your are coming from and that voice is needed. I respect you for bringing it up.
We gon’ figure something out! 🔊🎧🤙🏾
Don‘t want to sound too harsh. Dude, I love the energy and that you want to run with it. Just preaching good practices.
Thanks for bringing this up.
Nah that’s the whole point. Sure there isn’t the tooling for zaps or a sat paywall to download… but if you upload to stemstr you giving permission to release else where. In fact if you want to call the thing done and not have it messed with further don’t post it on stemstr.
I know we don’t like delete on nostr, but would love to post a loop up for zaps and have it ephemerally gone once that invoice is full so it’s way more exclusive than a splice membership.
Anyone, grabbing anything, doing whatever the fuck they want with it without communicating with anyone about it and crediting as they wish?My bad, totally misunderstood what the platform is supposed to be.
Not for me
This is the idea #[10]
Consider what #[11] did when he took my beat and layered the great melody and harp over it. He didn't have to ask permission or anything. He just tapped download, made it better and then put it back up on stemstr for anyone to use and do what they want with. It may not be for everybody, but I think it's awesome and can unlock so much creativity in folks.
Hope you decide to stick around and watch how it all evolves 💜
gonna sound like a broken record but definitely need to encourage uploading the isolated original contribution (in this example acapella) so more can happen from there
#[11] appreciate you reinforcing the point here! It’s not so much a function of encouragement as it is us all having full-time day jobs (and newborns!) and not a function of us not wanting to support the stems of a sound. Having these kinds of things unlocks so much potential as a tool that could be used by more serious producers. Concept here :-)

… and put it back stemstr. That is the key difference here for me. There were discussions between us about where it could go from there. If that becomes my track, I’d play the final mix in stemstr to you guys, get everyone thumb up and tell you my intention to release.
Deep down, just the way we do things, when we collaborate. I am not alone making music, if I am I do not need stemstr. It’s a collaboration, hence my obsession with the tree to track it all so that this discussion doesn’t even need to exist.
I think part of the reuploading finished work to stemstr is really just a test of the infrastructure with a lack of a bunch of people actually making samples/loops… like clearly we need a reply button as people just posting top levels 🔥 responses. Very early.
