yeah I have hosted miners instead since running an asic at home is not really an option.

you could get a 50x in your lifetime...
but otherwise the ROI is like 100 yrs

Right. Instead of just reimbursing the cost of the miner, you need to reimburse the cost of the solar setup.
Meanwhile it only took 2 winters to reimburse the cost of my miner. And then some
