I was just accumulating before nostr.
Nostr pushed me into setting up LN wallet and doing my first LN transactions.
i had a few people DM me telling me they had never used bitcoin, all they did was just buy and hodl. however thanks to nostrplebs.com, they needed to now use it to buy something they wanted. it was pretty damn cool to see them say that.
It sure is! Nostr is lightning-pilling bitcoiners and orange-pilling no-coiners.
i messed with lightning before, but only occasionally and just to experiment
now i use it every day multiple times a day
I think buying NIP-05 on nostrplebs was exactly my first ever LN transaction

Thinking about getting one myself. But I don't yet really get what I gain from it. Sure, people can find me by my name more easily. But wouldn't I kind of expose myself to a central party once again unless I run my own server to get my static whatsoever?

It definitely was for me! first time I'd ever used it to pay for something was my Nostr t-shirts and then for some paid relays. well worth the sats spent!

Building out another *real and powerful* use-case for Lightning will do wonders for it's adoption, maturation, and growth.
Bullish on how Nostr will drive actual Bitcoin usage from the ground up.
