We will do the following: if a user is ācheckedā in the registered table, we automatically trust their file uploads, which are also automatically checked as well.

I hesitated on the idea for a while as I thought of it as another layer of protection even on āultra-trustedā user accounts (ie my own), but then realized if the account is compromised itās not going to matter, so I might as well have the convenience.
