We are born in the shadow of death (the 'umbra mortis').

An 'umbra' or shadow is created when something is interposed between us and a source of light. (An 'umbrella' is a small shadow.)

The light is eclipsed (which means 'to fail'), leaving us not only in darkness, but in the image-shadow of the thing eclipsing the light--we are under its power, authority, and dominion.

We are born under the dominuon of this 'umbra mortis,' because of our first father's failure--a failure that eclipsed us from the Father of lights.

But praise be to God, that he sent a redeemer and rescuer.

Christ Jesus, the last Adam, did not fail--and, having removed that primal failure which eclipsed us from light, he has "delivered us from the kingdom (dominion, authority, order) of darkness and transferred us into his kingdom in light."

This free grace he offers...you. Come and buy without price.

Grace--isn't it amazing?

That is so good brother. Yes, God’s grace is beyond comprehension! Thank you for that insight!

I’ll continue to study!

Almost time for #coffeechain

It's the Lord's Day--here's a brief word study/meditation on light and darkness inspired by Paul's letter to the Collosians:
