Hahaha! Back in the late nineties, most people didn't have dedicated phone lines for their internet connection, so if someone dialed out on a land line phone or accepted an incoming call, you'd get kicked off the internet.

Back then, the internet wasn't really seen as a necessity, so it just piggybacked on the main phone line for most residences. It was a novelty, much like bitcoin in the early years. Not taken seriously by very many.

The disk would skip and cut out the sound of a song if you walked or ran too fast with a portable CD player. The song would studder. So they made special reinforced casing for them.
