I take two minutes to report an experience that honestly made me thinking a lot.
Me talking with a grad student, I casually came up with the topic of Lightning Network. The guy seemed interested so I gave the overall idea behind the protocol and its mechanism.
The guy was really interested even because he kind of knew something about bitcoin. He asks: "so everyone can be its own kind of bank and transact offchain with these 'side contracts' without being noticed?"
I obviously agreed.
Than he stated: "so this is dangerous! How is this protocol preventing money laundering and tracking transactions?"
Honestly, I was so disappointed that started laughing.
How is that a grad IT student cannot see the fascinating potential about bitcoin and LN and instread focuses on MoNeY LaUnDeRiNg!?!
My head hurts.
